Experience

Kate is a Lead Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist with the Australian Infrastructure Finance Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP). She has over 20 years’ experience working across a number of areas including, environmental and social safeguards, impact assessment, due diligence and sustainability for a wide range of projects, programs and organisations in different sectors. She has a strong background in infrastructure, extractives, energy, renewables and has worked across different regions including Australia, North Asia, East Asia, South Asia and the Pacific. As Environmental and Social Safeguard Specialist for AIFFP, Kate is responsible for management and coordination of environmental and social safeguards work across a range of infrastructure investments in the Pacific, and policy development, guidance and capacity building to support safeguard effectiveness. Prior to joining AIFFP, Kate spent a number of years with the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) where she was responsible for providing safeguard advice and capacity building on a wide range of Australian development and humanitarian programs and investments and worked closely with Multinational Financial Institutions, and bilateral aid organizations. She has a strong interest in mentoring and safeguards capacity building, has been a speaker at international workshops/conferences, and as served as chair of the Pacific Regional Infrastructure Facility’s Environmental and Social Safeguard Working Group. Kate has lived and worked in China but now calls Brisbane home.
