Richard is a Principal Social Safeguards Specialist and the Social Team Head for private sector operations at the Asian Development Bank where he has worked for the past 5 years. His role includes guiding transactions through the deal appraisal, monitoring and project review processes, working on all types of financing modalities and sectors, across all geographies of ADB’s membership country portfolio.

Before joining ADB Richard worked as a sustainability specialist for global brand extractives sector companies, principally in Africa, but also across South America, eastern Europe and central and southern Asia. Richard has a PhD in Social Anthropology which he complemented with a research fellowship at the University of Cambridge.
