Roberto (Roy) Tordecilla joined AIIB in October last year as a Senior Social Development Specialist and now part of the team that manages the application of the Bank’s ESF in its investment projects. He currently works on both SBF and NSBF projects including FI projects.

Before joining AIIB, Roy led the Social Safeguards team at the World Bank Country Management Unit for Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand and provided cross support for projects in the East Asia and Pacific Region. He also had extensive work in the area of fragility, conflict and violence particularly in Southern Philippines. Prior to his stint with the World Bank, Roy spent 10 years in policy advocacy and community and social development work with civil society organizations. After his CSO engagement, Roy was recruited to head the Localization Unit of the National Anti-Poverty Commission under the Office of the President of the Republic of the Philippines to take charge of mainstreaming the Philippine government’s poverty-reduction program at sub-national level.

Roy has bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration.
