Juan is as a Senior Advisor to the MCDF´s Chief Executive Officer covering strategic and operational matters. With over 36 years of experience in the infrastructure sector in emerging markets, he has held senior posts in leading commercial, investment and multilateral banks.

Prior to MCDF, Juan was the Managing Director General at the Asian Development Bank (COO equivalent) where he led work on strategy, operations, reforms, fundraising and results. He also managed two of ADB´s largest operational teams accounting for two-thirds of total annual bank financing.  Before ADB, Juan was one of 12 founding partners of Nmas1/Alantra, a major mid-cap market investment bank with operations across Europe and North America. He was also a senior executive at Morgan Stanley and a Managing Director at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Prior to this, he was a director in Hong Kong for Banesto, at the time a leading commercial bank, now part of Banco Santander, one of the world’s largest financial institutions.  Juan trained and worked for several years at the Economist Group in London.

Juan has a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from University of Reading, and a Diploma in Business Studies from West London University.
