Egypt’s Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat visited the Secretariat of the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) in Beijing, China on 11 July 2023. Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Zhongjing WANG and Minister Al-Mashat agreed to collaborate in promoting the Egyptian and pan-African connectivity agenda on key connectivity infrastructure investment projects in the region.

CEO Wang expressed gratitude to Egypt for its great support to MCDF. He also updated MCDF activities on information sharing, capacity building and project preparation, in particular cooperation with Egypt. Minister A-Mashat presented Egypt’s flagship “NWFE" (Nexus on Water, Food and Energy) Platform and welcomed MCDF participation in the Platform as a member. It would support showcasing Egypt’s climate change initiatives as a good practice to other African countries and identify project pipelines to be invested by the international financial institutions, including the African Development Bank, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the International Fund for Agricultural Development.  

“I see great potential for this collaboration,” noted Mr. Wang. “I look forward to discussing concrete steps further as we will be visiting Egypt in September this year.”
