MCDF Provides Grant Support for Quality Transport Infrastructure and Services Development in Africa
Beijing, China, 26 March 2024

A USD210,000 grant to promote quality transport infrastructure and services development in Africa has been approved by the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) Governing Committee during its meeting in Beijing on 26 March.

“The MCDF grant will enhance transport system information sharing and capacity building in Africa through support for the Africa Transport Forum 2024, which is being organized by the African Development Bank,” explained MCDF’s Program Head Frederic Wiltmann.

“The focus will be on keys to accelerating the resilient development of Africa’s aviation, port, and railway sectors, including the investment climate, trade facilitation, regional integration, and related policy and technology options,” Wiltmann added.

The activities to be financed by the grant will include information sharing dialogues, capacity building in collaboration with technical partners such as the International Road Federation, and project funding and identification discussions.

MCDF’s grant will also help improve analytical and research work to address transport development imperatives and foster high-quality transport infrastructure projects in Africa, via African Development Bank’s Africa Transport Forum 2024 implementation.
