MCDF Releases its 2022 Annual Report
Beijing, China, 21 June 2023

The Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) released today its 2022 Annual Report, including the Audited Financial Statements, highlighting its key achievements in 2022.

The 2022 Annual Report shows that despite challenging global conditions, MCDF-supported projects are expected to mobilize USD2.87 billion investment in high-quality and sustainable connectivity infrastructure. They include MCDF’s first project in Africa – the Egypt-Sudan Extra High Voltage Power System. In total, six grants were approved in 2022: four for project preparation and two for capacity building, to make the total number of MCDF-approved projects nine by the end of 2022.

Alongside funding to support projects, MCDF also made advances in the other essential part of its mission – ensuring quality and long-term sustainability of cross-border infrastructure and connectivity through information sharing on standards and good practices. MCDF worked together with its partners to share knowledge and encourage the widespread adoption of International Financial Institutions (IFI) standards. The Annual Report outlines how two ground-breaking workshop series, one on sustainable debt management and the other on climate-smart connectivity, were organized to make further progress in this area. MCDF also conducted two business matching events, one for Indonesia and the other for the ASEAN region, to bring potential financiers and project designers together.

MCDF Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Zhongjing Wang noted that “These are still early years for MCDF, yet we are steadily growing and evolving into a mature organization promoting positive global cooperation.”
