New MCDF videos summarize climate-smart connectivity workshops
Beijing, 03 March 2023

The Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) is currently producing a series of videos which capture learnings from climate-smart connectivity infrastructure workshops it co-hosted last year. MCDF joined with the Egyptian Ministry of Finance, Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Islamic Development Bank, World Bank, World Resources Institute and V20 (Vulnerable Twenty Group) in four workshops which concluded with a high-level event at COP27 in Egypt last year.

You can watch a 2-minute summary video of the most recent workshop in the series which focused on energy here.  This workshop found that climate-smart connectivity in the power sector comes with many benefits in addition to reducing global emissions. These include helping consumers access cheaper energy sources and allowing countries to export their excess energy, in addition to contributing to planning for climate shocks.

A 5-minute version of the summary video explaining the benefits of climate-smart energy connectivity in more detail has been loaded onto MCDF’s digital platform JIGSAW. During the next few months, MCDF will post more summary videos from this workshop series, which featured presentations by a variety of topic experts. These will cover climate-smart green ports, roads and railways as well as providing an overview of climate-smart connectivity infrastructure.

If you are interested in looking at the summary videos or other materials from the workshop series, please request access to JIGSAW by emailing jigsaw@themcdf.org.
