Joonkyung Seong has over 15 years of experience in sustainable energy and finance across private sector and multilateral institutions. He is Acting Program Leader for Infrastructure for China/Mongolia/Korea and Senior Energy Specialist of the World Bank, based in Beijing, China, managing the Bank's energy and transport sector programs in China and Mongolia and leading regional energy transition engagement in the East Asia and Pacific. He has extensive experience in developing renewable energy and energy efficiency projects, coordinating multilateral climate finance programs, and structuring blended finance operations using concessional climate finance. Before joining the Bank, he worked in the insurance sector, developing risk financing instruments such as insurance and guarantee and managing infrastructure project finance through public-private partnership. He holds a bachelor’s degree in applied statistics from Yonsei University and a master’s degree in international economics and international relations from Johns Hopkins University. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and a certified Energy Risk Professional (ERP).
