Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) CEO Zhongjing Wang and staff met Asian Development Bank (ADB) senior staff and country delegations during the 57th ADB Annual Meeting in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 1-5 May. The discussions laid the groundwork for stronger collaboration on cross-border connectivity with ADB and its members.
At the opening reception, CEO Wang congratulated ADB President Masatsugu Asakawa on successfully holding the annual meeting. He also reaffirmed MCDF’s commitment to working closely with ADB and its members to promote high-quality connectivity infrastructure investment in developing countries through partnerships.
CEO Wang shared insights on MCDF’s information sharing, capacity building, and project preparation activities with country delegations. They included Lao PDR Finance Minister Santiphab Phomvihane, Georgia Deputy Finance Minister Mirza Gelashvili, Sri Lanka State Minister for Finance Shehan Semasinghe, Malaysia Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying, Pen Thirong, Under Secretary of State, Ministry of Economy and Finance, Cambodia, and Philippines Undersecretary of Finance Joven Balbosa.
CEO Wang also met with officials of Luxembourg and Spain, and ADB Vice Presidents Bhargav Dasgupta, Scott Morris, Fatima Yasmin, and Yingming Yang, ADB Managing Director General Woochong Um, and a number of ADB department heads.
He thanked ADB Members and ADB staff for their active participation and support, and welcomed their ongoing cooperation as MCDF and its partners focus on areas such as procurement; anti-corruption and transparency; frontier climate technologies; environmental and social safeguards; public-private partnerships; and the context of cross-border connectivity infrastructure development.
“MCDF seeks to further strengthen its cooperation with ADB Members and ADB staff to highlight the importance of applying International Financial Institution standards and good practices for advancing high-quality connectivity infrastructure in developing Asia and beyond,” CEO Wang concluded.
