Project Description

The MCDF grant will provide concept development support for the proposed Maldives Uthuru-Thilafalhu-Thilafushi Link Project, which aims to construct a 4.32km link comprised of roads and a 2.6km bridge that traverses three islands in the Maldives’ North Malé atoll, at the heart of the Indian Ocean.

The grant will fund the project’s pre-feasibility study and help identify potential financiers and co-financiers for future project preparation stages.

Alignment with MCDF Core Values

The project will facilitate cross-border connectivity and trade in the Maldives by establishing a land-based link connecting industrial and agricultural economic zones. With support from the MCDF grant, preliminary technical, environmental, social, and economic assessments in line with International Financial Institution standards will be conducted to establish a sound concept design and identify an optimal alignment option for the bridge and road project.
