Concept Development for Coastal Infrastructure to Support Large-Scale Offshore Wind Farm in the Caspian Sea
The MCDF grant provides concept development support for a potential coastal infrastructure project to deploy a large-scale offshore wind farm in the Caspian Sea. The project is part of the broader Central Asia – European Union Green Energy Corridor, which will facilitate the transmission of renewable energy from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to Europe.
The grant is funding preliminary studies on strategic coastal infrastructure planning, early identification of technical, environmental, and regulatory challenges; and institutional readiness for offshore wind farm development.
The grant will help ensure that the preliminary studies are conducted in line with International Financial Institution standards and improve bankability of the underlying investment project. The proposed coastal infrastructure investment will help unlock cross-border renewable energy trade opportunities.
