Turki Abalala, Ph.D., serves as the Assistant Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Finance of Saudi Arabia. He has extensive experience in economic and financial affairs, representing the Ministry in various international forums. Notably, he has served as an Advisor to the Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he contributed to global financial discussions and policy-making.
Before assuming his current position, Dr. Abalala held key academic roles. He was the Head of the Department of Economics at King Abdulaziz University, where he led academic programs and research initiatives. His research interests include applied economics, financial economics, macroeconomics, and Islamic financial markets.
Dr. Abalala holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from King Abdulaziz University (2004), a Master's degree in Economics from Newcastle University, UK (2007), and a Doctorate in Economics from Newcastle University (2013).
