Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) CEO Zhongjing Wang congratulated the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) on its 50th anniversary and discussed deepening MCDF-IsDB partnership at the 2024 IsDB Group Annual Meetings in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on 27-30 April. CEO Wang and other MCDF staff also met with country delegations gathered at the event.
CEO Wang thanked IsDB Vice President Mansur Mukhtar for IsDB and its members’ close collaboration with MCDF to promote high-quality cross-border connectivity infrastructure investment in developing countries. He noted the importance of spotlighting IsDB’s lessons and good practices from its 50 years of operations and reaffirmed his support for IsDB’s efforts to become an MCDF Implementing Partner.
CEO Wang detailed MCDF’s information-sharing, capacity building, and project preparation activities in meetings with senior government officials. They included Egypt Finance Minister Dr. Mohamed Maait, Kazakhstan Deputy Prime Minister and National Economy Minister Mr. Nurlan Baibazarov, Algeria Finance Minister Dr. Laaziz Fayed, H.E Mr. Sultan Al-Marshad, CEO, Saudi Fund for Development, Tajikistan Deputy Finance Minister Mr. Majidi Yusuf, Iraq Central Bank Deputy Governor Dr. Ammar Hammad Khalaf, and Mrs. Lydia Jafiya, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Finance, Nigeria.
He also met with Dr. Issa Faye, IsDB Director General of Global Practice and Partnership and Mr. Adel Al-Hosani, Operations Department Director at the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development.
CEO Wang welcomed IsDB senior staff and country delegations’ continued support and active participation in joint MCDF knowledge and information-sharing activities covering areas such as debt sustainability, procurement, anti-corruption, climate finance, frontier climate technologies, hydro power project development, a Central Asian connectivity project pipeline, and investment facilitation.
“MCDF extends its warm congratulations to the Islamic Development Bank for its 50th anniversary,” said CEO Wang. “I look forward to further deepening MCDF’s partnerships with IsDB and its members in ways that highlight connectivity infrastructure project successes and lessons learned over the bank’s first 50 years and support new breakthroughs during its next 50 years and beyond,” he concluded.
