The inaugural Ministerial Meeting of the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) was convened on 25 June in Beijing. Participants discussed the considerable progress achieved by MCDF to promote high-quality cross-border connectivity infrastructure investment in developing countries through partnerships during its first four and a half years of operations, and the preparations for MCDF’s next phase.
Joining the meeting were ministerial-level representatives of MCDF’s seven donor countries and AIIB as its Administrator. The participants included Mr. Liao Min, China’s Vice Minister of Finance, Mr. Atter Hannoura of Egypt’s Finance Ministry, Ms. Andrea Nagyne Boda of Hungary’s Ministry for National Economy, Mr. Thakkar Al-Otaibi of Saudi Arabia’s Finance Ministry, Mr. Thirong Pen, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr. Soulivath Souvannachoumkham, Lao PDR’s Deputy Finance Minister, and Mr. Joven Balbosa, the Philippines Undersecretary of Finance, and AIIB President Jin Liqun. The meeting was facilitated by MCDF CEO Mr. Zhongjing Wang.
Mr. Márton Nagy, Hungary’s Minister for National Economy, joined MCDF’s ministerial lunch on 24 June.
The meeting participants welcomed MCDF’s impactful initial results and growth. They went on to discuss the next steps for MCDF’s strategy and operations and how it can foster even more high-quality connectivity infrastructure investment breakthroughs.
