MCDF Approves Fund for Supporting Connectivity Infrastructure Development in Central Asia

Beijing, China, 22 January 2026

The establishment of a dedicated fund under the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) Finance Facility for supporting connectivity infrastructure development in Central Asia was approved during a special meeting of the MCDF Governing Committee that was held virtually on 22 January.

The fund will raise additional grant resources and earmark funds for project preparation, capacity building, and information and knowledge-sharing activities in the region. The aim is to help address its unique infrastructure challenges, including landlocked geography, climate vulnerability, debt risk, and accelerating connectivity demand.

All accredited MCDF Implementing Partners will be able to access grants under the fund for implementing connectivity projects approved by the MCDF Governing Committee.
