MCDF Grant Builds Financial System Capacity in IsDB Member Countries for High-quality Connectivity Project Implementation

Beijing, China, 26 March 2025

A USD210,000 grant to build Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) member countries’ financial system capacity to implement high-quality connectivity infrastructure projects was approved by the Multilateral Cooperation Center for Development Finance (MCDF) Governing Committee during its virtual meeting administered from Beijing on 26 March. The project will be implemented by IsDB.

It is the first capacity building project proposed by IsDB to have MCDF grant support since the bank became an MCDF Implementing Partner in December 2024.

Regional workshops for IsDB member countries on International Financial Institution best practices that promote sustainable project finance management will be supported by this grant.

The aim is to help IsDB member countries strengthen project fund use, public resource management efficiency and accountability, and broader governance, laying the institutional groundwork for greater high-quality connectivity infrastructure project implementation.

Topics to be covered by the regional workshops include financial information and reporting systems, internal control, external financial auditing, funds flow management, accounting standards and procedures, and planning and budgeting.

The regional workshops are planned to be held in Istanbul, Dakar, and Jeddah. The participants are expected to consist of project finance management specialists, finance managers, and other staff in IsDB member countries.
